Via del Corso

Via del Corso is the main street running through the historical centre of Rome, Italy. It is remarkable for being absolutely straight in an area characterized by narrow meandering alleys and small piazzas. It is also wider than most streets in the centre of Rome, but still only has barely room for two lanes of traffic and two narrow sidewalks. The northern portion of the street is a pedestrian area. The length of the street is roughly 1.5 kilometres.

The Corso runs in a roughly north-south direction. In the north it ends at Piazza del Popolo between Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria in Montesanto. The southern terminus is at Piazza Venezia. There are no major tourist attractions along the street itself, but the nearby area has them in abundance. Major sites near the Corso include the Ara Pacis, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Fontana di Trevi, Il Vittoriano and Forum Romanum.

RAI Headquarters

Rai - Radiotelevisione Italiana, known until 1954 as Radio Audizioni Italiane, is the Italian public service broadcaster, the biggest television company in Italy. It operates many televison channels and radio staions, broadcasting in analog terrestrial ( until 2013), in digital terrestrial and in several satellite and IPTV offerings. RAI is one of the 23 founding broadcasting organisations of the European Broadcasting Union in 1950.

The headquarters in Rome is located at Saxa Rubra and RAI is one of the largest government employers. Attempts to privatise the company have failed and RAI and its three main terrestrial channels: Rai Uno, Rai Due and Rai Tre have remained as government entities.

FAO - Food and Agriculture Organisation

Tor Vergata University

Tor Vergata University is one of the three publicly funded universities in Rome. Built in 1982, this university is divided into six schools each offering a diverse range of study options. The official name is Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and has one of its campuses in Rome. Known mainly for its faculty of Medicine and Surgery and teaching hospital in Rome, the university itself offers a myriad of subjects including Economics, Agriculture and Banking and Finance. Sapienza University of Rome is a coeducational, autonomous state university in Rome, Italy. It is the largest European university and the most ancient of the city’s three state-funded universities; Sapienza was founded in 1303, Tor Vergata in 1982, and Roma Tre in 1992.

According to the Academic Ranking of World Universities published by the Institute of Higher Education of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Sapienza University of Rome ranks among top 30 European universities, recognized as the most prestigous Italian University, acknowledged among other elite institues all around the world.

Today, Sapienza University of Rome is by far the largest university of Rome. Trastevere

Trastevere an area across the Tiber river is one of the most famous and liveliest neighbourhoods in Rome. With quaint architecture, narrow and winding streets, the area has always had a micro-culture due to numerous peoples who took up residence in the area.

Via Condotti

Via Condotti (officially Via dei Condotti) is a street of Rome. In Roman times it was one of the streets that crossed the ancient Via Flaminia and enabled people who crossed the Tiber to reach the the Pincio hill. It begins at the Spanish steps and is named after conduits or channels which carried water to the Baths of Agrippa.

Via Condotti is a center of fashion shopping in Rome, dating back to the atelier of Bulgari which opened in 1905. Now, in addition to Valentino, other designers such as Armani, Hermes, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Gucci, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Salvatore Ferragamo all have stores on Via Condotti. The street is easily reached by taking the underground (Metro A) to the stop Spagna.

Via Veneto

Via Veneto made famous by the film ‘ La Dolce Vita’ by Federico Fellini is one of the streets to see and be-seen on in Rome. A few of the hot spots seen in the film are still standing today and are just as ‘chic’ as ever. The street is lined with glass- encased restaurants, designer shops and trendy upscale bars. The lesser known Cappuchin Crypt is also found on Via Veneto and is worth a look inside during your stroll in the area. It is considered to be one of the best locations to stay in while in Rome as everything is within easy walking distance. The Hotel Eliseo is in this prime location with the renowned La Cesarina restaurant producing tantalizing and mouth watering local dishes. The street can be easily reached by many buses and the underground stop of Metro A - Barberini.

Tiburtina Station

The Tiburtina station is the second-largest in Rome. Like the larger Termini, it is both a bus and train station addtionally being serviced with one line (Metro B) of the underground system. Tiburtina because of its location in the north-eastern section of the city, has many smaller trains which service the towns which lie on the periphery of Rome. Many people every morning and at the end of the working day, take the commute using these trains which can become extremely crowded and it is advisable to avoid the rush during the peak hours.
